thanksgiving is a great time to practice portion control

Most families cook a ton of food on thanksgiving, and I look forward to a great meal and being thankful for our blessings. But just because you cook all your favorite desserts and entrees for thanksgiving, doesnt mean you need to eat triple your normal daily calorie intake at dinner time. Eat a normal sized portion, and then relax and enjoy, talk and be with the family, and wait for a couple hours, and then eat some more after you digest your food.

Like I tell all my clients, when you are served a big dish eat half, and eat the rest a couple hours for your snack, or even for breakfast or lunch the next day. Nothing will be wasted and you can always finish the food in a few hours. It will keep your metabolism firing all day, and basically you are grazing all day. Like adding wood to the fire of your metabolism, instead of putting all the wood at one time and expecting it to last forever. Fire and metabolism are similar, if you feed it a little at time your wood will produce more and long lasting flame and consistent heat, instead of all being consumed in a huge fast blaze and then running out of wood for the long cold evening.

The best way to burn all your wood and use that fuel to feed any athletic movements you do and give you a lean strong body with good endurance is to graze over food the whole day. Instead of gorging every 6 hours, and not eating anything for 6 hours. Gorging turns into a tired groggy effect, and your body storing your food as fuel instead of burning it as fuel, and creating new muscle from your workouts. And you end up at the vending machine and buying high sugar items like candy bars, soda, potato chips, and craving other fatty and high sugar items cause your body is tired.

So enjoy the turkey, cranberries, pumpkin pie, loafs of wheat bread, brown rice, potatoes with a little gravy, the stuffing, fruits and veggies, squash with cinammon and whipped cream, ham, baked goods from cookies to cupcakes, and your beverages: water, eggnog, wine, beer, juice…

Make it a meal to remember without seeing a gain of 5 pounds when you wake up in the morning…Go for a walk, run, or play some basketball, or lift weights, take a yoga class, go dancing, walk the dog, go biking or swimming. Make eating a reason to move more on thanksgiving. The stores wont open till friday, so get your exercise in on thanksgiving day. If your watching football ride the stationary bike, or jump rope, do pushups and jumping jacks during the commercials.

God Bless, and thank you lord for all your wonderful blessings

We have a new dvd set on my site called “REVABS” they use capoeria movements and concentrate on shredding your core to get your abs to show and be ripped. It looks good, I want to pick it up as well. I love that they are incorporating capoeria in this video set.

Wie notches first LPGA win at Ochoa Invitational

This a the first pro victory for Michelle Wie. I believe she will go on to be a very good golfer, and may one day be a golfer who can compete with professional men and women golfers. That is the dream given to her and that the media and male golfers want to take away from her. We have to remember she is only 20 years old. I dont think tiger even went pro until he finished at stanford.  So let her grow up and be a student and allow her to compete as much as the ncaa, and sponsors will allow her in the LPGA or PGA if she chooses. And if she never beats the men, she has still done more for golf just for the attemtp then most male golfers have done for the sport. I bet you most golf fans know michelle wie, and probably cant name 20 male golfers that they know by name besides her. I cant for sure, for me there is tiger, vijay, els, mickelson, andrew kim, jack nickalaus, tom watson, hogan, palmer…and man that is 4 retired legends, and john daly….that is probably the only ones I can name, maybe you can name more…but i consider myself an average golf fan and golfer….Michelle Wie, just remember the journey is as much the experience as the reaching the goal, just never give up on your dream. Just because you dont get it as a teenager doesnt mean it will never happen. The last thing a teenager needs is for the media to scrutinize their dreams on the front page of espn.com or foxsports….sometimes kids get overexposed when they show athletic prowess as a young athlete. At least corporate sponsors have stepped in to advise you and your family…and provided financial help for your golf carer. And finally all that potential has become victory in the LPGA for you while you are still in college….that is phenomenal considering all the negative media you have had to endure.. And I too am glad the cardinal dusted the trojans on the football field. Hopefully ucla can do the same. The enemies of my enemy is my friend 🙂

liquid destruction of your waistline

most people eat well, but they dont account for the kcalories they pick up everyday from liquid…

gatorade, soda, energy drinks, starbuck super sweetened liquid meals, smoothies, alcohol…those are the most common killers

and even fruit juice….all of these can easily be over 100 kcals per serving….

instead grab tea, milk, water

If I drink juice I will treat it as a cocentrate and add water to it to fill the cup. I love chocolate soy milk, and cold water is always great.

even diet soda is bad, because the aspartame causes you to lack the ability to know when you are full. Plus it still has a ton of artificial sweeteners, and carbonated drinks lower your calcium levels in your body as well, which is critical for women…And of course the soda makes you chubby as well….

Dont drink anything over 25 kcals per serving, or at least combine it with more food and drink….
